In conversation with: The Curators

3 of 4 Archive conversations

Kuratorsamtale V2 rettet opp

In collaboration with Oslo arkitekturforening

OAT exists both within and around the field of architecture, in a kind of balance between practice, theory and dissemination. This balancing act has been explored through the seven triennial editions. The seven editions have been very different, but they have all put the relevance of architecture and urban development on the agenda and explored the complexity that lies in creating our built environment.

In this conversation the curators and initiators of the triennale editions back to 2000 will meet for the first time and share their experiences. The aim for the conversation is to both learn from the past and to discuss what lies ahead. What is the relevance of architecture in the future and what role can possibly an architecture triennale play?

The conversation is also available on YouTube here
.

In the conversation you will meet:

Reilulf Ramstad - initiator and conceptual author of the first editon, Ways of living in 2000

Gudmund Stokke
- President in NAL and responsible for Visions for the Capital in 2003

Gary Bates
- Curator of Culture of Risk in 2007

Bjarne Ringstad - Curator of Man Made in 2010

Tristan Boniver
- Co-curator for Behind the Green Door in 2013 (TBC)

Alejandra Navarrete Llopis - Part of the curatorial team behind After Belonging in 2016

Cecilie Sachs Olsen
- Part of the curatorial team behind Enough: The Architecture of Degrowth in 2019

The conversation will be moderated by OAT director Hanna Dencik Petersson.

The conversation will take its starting point in the essay series also part of the 20th anniversary of OAT. The curators and initiators of the seven editions of the triennale are, in the form of an essay series, invited to reflect on the ideas, questions and expectations of the work they did then, from today's perspective. Each essay in this series is thus dedicated to one of the triennale editions back to 2000. The essay series is a collaboration with Arkitektur N.
